REAL SCREEN SUMMIT: BRINGING THE BEST IN NON-FICTION TOGETHER

For the fourth consecutive year, representatives from Video Arts Studios attended and participated in the world’s largest non-fiction cable television marketplace, known as Real Screen Summit.  Mary Ann Phillips and Tricia O’Connor traveled to Washington, DC to listen and learn from some of the leading executives of renowned networks like the Discovery, Travel and National Geographic Channels.  At Real Screen, Video Arts also received recognition from other producers for its contribution to one of the History Channel’s most-watched series, “MonsterQuest.”  For the series, Video Arts produced two episodes called “Mutant Canines” and “Swamp Beast.”

Mary Ann and Tricia spent the bulk of their time attending informational seminars hosted by various programming experts.  They learned about upcoming projects the networks will be premiering this year and what sorts of shows they’re looking to put on the air.  If you have an idea for a television show, this is the time to share it with Mary Ann and Tricia!  They are available for meetings to discuss your idea.

Tricia also braved the world of Speed Pitching while at Real Screen.  This is true test of spunk and television knowledge as she only had 3 minutes to impress a network executive with her show idea.  Tricia met with representatives from the National Geographic Channel and HGTV (Home and Garden Television) and received great feedback on her ideas.  Both networks have asked Video Arts to submit the ideas as formal pitches.

The Real Screen Summit is heralded as the most important non-fiction film and television industry event in the world.  Now in its 10th year, Real Screen helps programmers and producers identify the best new ideas, recognize top industry talent, offer the forum for discussion and debate, explore issues and uncover trends.
