Darn Good Time, Doncha Know!
What's
8 feet tall, smells of cedar, weighs
in at over 500 pounds and is now one of the hottest attraction
in Fargo ? If
you
guessed
"Wood-Chip Marge," located at the historic Fargo
Theatre, you're right!
Video
Arts' assistance in staging and AV support was sought out
by Merv Griffin Productions of Hollywood for the Special
Edition DVD release of the Coen
Brothers' film Fargo . This world premiere event
required some fancy footwork as the "star" of
the event was a hand carved 8-foot Washington Red Cedar
sculpture of Marge Gunderson (portrayed by Oscar award-winner
Francis McDormand.) The statue, shipped in from
Seattle,
was awarded to Mayor Bruce Furness and the City of Fargo
by MGM Home Entertainment.
Highlights of the event included DVD giveaways
of the classic film,
a performance from the West Fargo High School Marching
Band, an appearance by Fargo's own Kristin Rudrud who played
Jean Lundegaard in the movie, not to
mention an Arby's roast beef eating competition. Video Arts
is grateful for the
teamwork of Spider & Co, the Fargo-Moorhead CVB and
the wonderful
staff
of the Fargo Theatre in making this an event to remember!
