VIDEO ARTS STUDIOS SELECTED TO DEVELOP Fargo, ND, October 19, 2005 --- Video Arts Studios, a Fargo-based full service film, video and audio production company, produces HOUSE OF BABIES, a series for Discovery Health Channel. The 26-episode fact-based series follows the stories of midwives, students, and parents as they experience the day-to-day joy and drama of natural child birth at the nationally renowned Miami Maternity Center in Miami. "This is a very exciting step in the evolution of Video Arts Studios," said Video Arts vice president and co-owner Mary Ann Phillips. "We've been doing nationally televised work for years, but this is the first time we will take a network project from the development stage through production." Video Arts clients have included Nickelodeon, Inside Edition, Animal Planet, E! Entertainment, and the Outdoor Life Network. "When HOUSE OF BABIES was proposed to us by Video Arts Studios, we were eager to participate," said Shari Daniels, director of the Miami Maternity Center. "Our hope is that the series will prompt more areas to set up birth centers, and that doctors will look at midwifery as a normal option for their patients." Phillips said the number of cable television channels has grown tremendously over the last decade thanks to the boom in cable services, and the demand for programming is at an all-time high. "Fargo has been getting a lot of national recognition lately as a great place to live and work," said Phillips. "There's no reason why we can't also be known as a major center for film, video and audio development and production. Thanks to the revolution in technology, distance is no longer a factor, and Fargo has the talent and resources to produce at a national level." Video Arts has partnered with Bosch Media to help it develop television program ideas for the networks. Dale Bosch, a 25-year television veteran, has developed, sold and produced television shows for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and others. He is the executive producer of House of Babies. "While we are excited to be working with Dale, in the future, we also hope to partner with others in the community who may have an idea or premise for television programming," said Phillips. "A great idea is a great idea, and we know that there are plenty of creative people right here in the Red River Valley." For example, Phillips said the concept for House of Babies was the result of a discussion between Video Arts producer Troy Parkinson and Fargo resident Diana Swenson-Siegel. HOUSE OF BABIES premiered on Discovery Health Channel Monday, September 26, during the daytime. Discovery Health Channel is available through CableOne of Fargo on channel 323, Dish Network on channel 189, and DIRECTV on channel 279. Founded in Fargo in 1982, Video Arts Studios is a state-of-the-art, full service television and radio production center, producing award-winning commercials, corporate sales, training and public relations projects for a regional and national client base. |
