Cari Drees and Jared Slinde, at the Great Plains Food Bank, thought Dakota Medical Foundation’s Giving Hearts Day in February was a great opportunity to create a new video to help promote the need for donations to help feed North Dakota families. The two put their heads together and came up with a creative approach that would best portray the service the Food Bank provides for struggling families.

Project Manager, Aimee Mitchell and Producer, Jim Kirwan then sat down with Cari and Jared who shared their concept and ideas for locations and casting and a schedule was put together. Jim then got together with Director of Photography Marty Halgrimson and storyboarded what they felt would be the most concise way to tell the story.

The pre-production paid off, as everything went very smoothly when the Video Arts crew, Marty, Jim and Audio Engineer, John Shea, joined Cari and Jared for the shoot on location. First stop was the Hornbachers grocery store in Moorhead, and then it was off to the Great Plains Food Bank to shoot the remaining scenes. Jim then joined Editor, Scott Tostenrud to assemble the video. Click Here to view the spot.

Delighted with the final edits, Cari and Jared saw to it that the video was posted to social media to help increase their on-line donations for Giving Hearts Day…so that no child in North Dakota goes hungry.
